From Psych Ward to Purpose: The Story Behind Make Heaven ROAR
Share
In 2014, my world came crashing down when I entered psychosis and was rushed to the psych ward and spent 2 weeks recovering from a manic Bipolar episode. I was 19, and at the time, I didn’t have a relationship with God and had barely picked up a Bible. Previously, I was living a life in rebellion to God and didn’t want much to do with Him.
But this episode woke me up.
As traumatic as it was, falling so hard showed me how little control I truly had in this life and how much I needed a Savior to heal my broken heart and mind.
After Jesus nudged and the Holy Spirit spoke to me through different circumstances and people for 1.5 years, I submitted my life to him and since then, I have not been the same.
Throughout my mental health struggles, God has been so faithful and through his mighty power, He has delivered me and given me victory time and time again. Today I live in so much peace and freedom, and so desperately do I want so many people struggling like I have to experience this same grace and mercy.
1 in 5 U.S. adults struggle with a mental illness each year. But let me tell you, a diagnosis, regardless of the severity, is not a death sentence.
Actually, it opens up an invitation to approach the God of the universe and be rescued–out of mental torment, but most importantly from eternal torment.
Jesus says, “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent” (Luke 15:7)
What brings Jesus the most joy is when a person repents and receives eternal life. That is the ultimate goal behind Make Heaven Roar, to bring a hurting and hopeless world to eternal salvation and make Heaven thunder with joy.
Helping people overcome their mental battles is a beautiful doorway to introduce them to their compassionate and loving savior–a perfect man who died for them and resurrected from the grave so they could live a victorious life on earth and spend eternity in Heaven, free from mental torment forever.
Our mission is simple but powerful:
